About Harry

Harry Mottram is a freelance journalist who produces illustrations and photographs for his articles, is a playwright with a number of productions over the last 25 years, is an occasional actor and journalist and lives in Axbridge in Somerset.

Originally an art student in the 1970s he became a graphic designer and copywriter in Bristol’s advertising agencies in the 1980s but switched to journalism in 1996 when he also began writing plays. These included updating the script for Axbridge’s community play with a cast of hundreds in 2000,2010 and 2022 and ranged from dramas based on the town’s recent history to small scale theatre productions in Bristol and his one man plays that have opened in festivals in Devon, Bath and Edinburgh.

His journalism has taken him around the world from Brazil to Senegal and Belfast to Germany covering industry, fashion, travel, politics and mainly news – and currently edits and writes for a newspaper and website in Bath.

He’s currently working on a novel and a play which he hopes will be completed later this year with his latest play The Last Train set to be stationed in 2026.
