By Harry Mottram: As you may know I was badly injured when a motorist crashed into me from behind while cycling in May. It left me with multiple fractures – the medics have xrayed me and they are all now heeled. After putting back my cycle ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats a couple of months I will now set off from Land’s End on Friday 9th August and hope to complete the trip in around two weeks.

I am raising money for the Cheddar Foodbank and Axbridge Carnival – so if you can spare a few pounds that would be much appreciated.

The link for Axbridge it is https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/harry-mottram

I will be mainly camping and only spending what I would in an average week and I am sponsoring myself as well. My sisters have clubbed together to buy me a new bike as the last one is rather crushed. There is an ongoing legal case against the driver – who according to police didn’t even brake but hit me at full speed on a wide road on a clear day with light traffic. I’ve been told by everyone at the hospital that I am lucky to be alive – so am getting on with things including this trip as I’ve been gifted a second life.

My motivation is simple: my best friend at school has done it twice – and I thought why not? Plus I will lose weight and get fit – and of course the sponsorship is an incentive to complete the ride and not to let everyone down.
